In Catholic moral theology, a vice is a state of habitual sin that interferes with a person's freedom to choose his or her own actions. The person in bondage to vice may feel as if he can't refrain from gambling more than he can afford to, or from drinking so much that she injures her health and her reputation. He may feel addicted to pornography or other related sins; or she may feel she can't live without clothing and jewelry far more expensive than she can afford. Any sin we commit over and over, and feel we have little control anymore, whether we like it or not, we're stuck - is called a vice.
