The 13 Colonies.:)
The US was not a country in 1760 and thus had no states. At that time, the US was still a British colony and composed of 13 colonies (which also became the first 13 states of the US).

The US did not "break up into states". The states were originally formed separately, then the first 13 were made into the USA
The US was first the colonies of Britain, then the 13 colonies, then it was America, then the United States of America.
Pennsylvania
No way it was the original 13 colonies that became states first
The US started out with 13 states.
All 13 out of 13 states.
The 13 stars of the first US flag represent the original 13 colonies which became the United States as a result of the Revolutionary War, but the stars do not have individual identities; all 13 of the original states have equal precedence. They created the US simultaneously, not one at a time. The 1st State is considered to be Rhode Island, as it was the first to ratify the US Constitution, though it didn't become effective until 7 states had ratified it.
