Individual members of the Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-day Saints (the "Mormon" church) have lived in every state before moving to Utah. However, historically the headquarters of the Church (and therefore most of the leaders and a large number of members) has moved from New York to Ohio to Missouri to Illinois and finally to Utah where it has been since 1847.
Today there are over 6 million Mormons living in every state of the United States and 14.5 million Mormons living around the world. Only about 10% (1.5 million) of all Mormons today live in Utah.
