You need to be more clear about what type of construction you are talking about. There are steel, road, building, etc types of construction. I used to be an interior trim subcontractor and the only hardship I found was having to use the port-o-john. Interior trim is the gravy job of carpentry. You are not out in the elements, don't have to lug on heavy things like sheets of plywood and you can set up a fan (I live in FL) and wear your iPod and just do the job. Only a little math involved. Knowing how to read a tape measure, figuring out odd angles, knowing how to use a miter saw and adding or subtracting fractions is a must.
