Is a German Shepherd and Border Collie mix a Dutch Shepherd?

A Dutch Shepherd is not a Border Collie or a GSD (German Shepherd Dog). While they are herders and protectors, the Dutch Shepherd is not close to the ability of a Border Collie, and surpasses the ability of a GSD. Dutch Shepherds are very capable guardians, and virtually lack all of the health and temperament problems of a GSD. I have a Border Collie, GSD, and Dutch Shepherd and know that they are three very different dogs, and should not be confused with one another. In short, a Dutch Shepherd is less likely to snap when he shouldn't, is a far better protector than a GSD, and lacks nearly all of the health problems that a GSD does. I would say that a Dutch Shepherd ranks closer to a Doberman or Rottweiler as far as being a guard dog, an Aussie in terms of agility, and and Aussie again in terms of temperament.

How big do German Shepherds get?

The full adult size of your GSD will depend in large part on the genetic background of its parents. Adult males should range between 24-26" at the shoulder blade, females from 22-24". Males within the standard may weigh anywhere from 65-90 lbs. depending on their bloodlines. Females may weigh anywhere from 50-75 lbs. Although your pup will reach close to adult height by 10-18 months, he will continue to fill out until up to 3 years old.

Is there an actual breed of miniature German Shepherds or a hybrid breed of such a dog?

No there is not a miniature breed. German Shepherds Dog Breeders and Societies prefer to keep the bloodlines clean. There are times when a German Shepherd may mate with a smaller breed of dog, but this has nothing to do with dog breeders. My brother has a dog that is part German Shepherd and Border Collie.Yes there are hybrids of German Shepherd dogs ... Shiloh Shepherds, King Shepherds, Shepadoodle, Alasken Shepalute etc.......'Technically there is no such thing as a miniature German Shepherd, but a lot of breeds are being miniaturized. They are miniaturizing Staffordshire Terriers, Border Collies and various other breeds, but most are not officially recognized as show dogs. ALL true German Shepherds are just that and to miniaturize a breed it means mixing that breed. In checking about this question I discovered this answer "Dwarf German Shepherd Dog. This is not a miniature version of the breed, but a genetic defect that can cause multiple health problems and is referred to as pituitary dwarfism. It appears to occur in many different families, and afflicted dogs require lifelong veterinary care to maintain health and coat. Dwarves are usually identifyable at birth, and are not simply runty animals stunted by health issues. Secondary problems include pannus, thyroidism, allergies and poor coat. Many can become nearly bald with age, and none grow much larger than 20 or 30 pounds. The temperament of dwarves however appears unaffected, and they show the character typical of their family. If well cared for, they can live a long and happy life, and make a charming companion."taken from:The Illustrated Standard of the German Shepherd DogWritten and Illustrated by Linda Shaw MBA

Is shaving your arms a bad thing?

Shaving your arms is not bad for your health. It is a personal choice, like deciding if you want to shave your legs or not. But if you keep shaving your arm hair it will look like it's growing in faster and and of a darker color. But that's a temporary result of the cutting action of shaving.

Should you breed your white German Shepherd with another white or a regular Shepherd?

Neither. If you need to ask, you shouldn't breed. The only good breeders are responsible breeders who know what they're doing and spend thousands of dollars health checking parents, testing etc. You would be adding to the population of hundreds of thousands of unwanted dogs/puppies. Get them fixed.
