There is no specific rules, as the companies may become non-kosher in a matter of minutes. If the mashgiach, kosher supervisor, sees a violation of the kashrus, the approval given by that agency (or Rabbi for that matter) is immediately revoked. Check for a reliable kosher symbol, and you should be in good shape!
Sorry, unfortunately trident gum isn't to be chewed by vegetarians, and people who eat kosher or halal foods. Trident is made with Gelatin, a common ingredient in Chewing Gum, marshmallows, and other jelly foods. The gelatin is problematic in this case because it comes from non-kosher/halal animals including often pigs.
A lot of different gums are kosher. You just have took look for the sign that shows that they are kosher. There are many different signs such as the u surrounded by an o. One brand of gum that is Kosher is 'Must'. Happy Chewing!

I have checked and as far as I Know there are no halal chewing gum or bubble gum. BUT...in Australia there is a halal certification for wrigleys gum but other than that i haven't heard of any halal gum. Remember check for a K or U on products to ensure that they're halal, kosher or vegetarian.
