In MOST of the US, the requirements are that you be an adult, or have the permission of an adult (my grandchildren shoot with me, with the permission of their parents). You may not have been convicted of a serious crime, be an illegal alien, have been judged to be mentally incompetent, etc. There are several THOUSAND different firearm laws in the US- and othe countries have other laws.
