At the Battle of Cowpens, January 17, 1781. Hannah's Cowpens was an area in northwestern South Carolina. Morgan had a small group of Continental soldiers, and his force was mostly local militia. Depends on the battle
The Battle of Cowpens was a battle during the Revolutionary war that was a victory for the Continental army. During the battle, the Continental army both outsmarted and outmaneuvered the British forces. They set up their lines on the battlefield in a way that resulted in 40% of the casualties from the British forces being their commanding officers. There were three lines of American soldiers, that grew in size as the British made their way forward. Because the British thought the retreating of each individual line was an actual retreat, they pressed forward only to be assaulted by more soldiers in the next line. The battle continued as American forces circled around and attacked the British forces from behind. During the battle, 110 British soldiers were killed, 229 were wounded, and 829 were captured or went missing. For the Americans, only 25 of their soldiers were killed with 124 being wounded.
