If you are speaking of the Magi, they are only mentioned in the gospel of Matthew, and it doesn't say how many there were.
"We three kings of Orient are" first appeared in print during the 1860s, and given that they supposedly arrived in 12 days, they obviously weren't traveling all the way from the Orient. Matthew called them wise men, not kings, and Psalms 72:11 was used to assert that they were kings.
