Here is a variety of opinions:

  • In my opinion, it's about luck. Just about everyone had an imagination when they were little, and we all played "pretend-like" when some of us were the fireman and some of us had to be rescued, or when some were the police and others were the crooks. Today's actors and actresses still do that. Many have never really grown up as can be seen in their lifestyles and some of the nonsensical statements that they make when they're allowed to express their own opinions. There is nothing wrong with wanting to act for a living, but the big jobs come to people who were in the right place at the right time, and who impressed the right person. My daughter-in-law is a far better singer than most of the people who are paid millions for their songs. The young man at the community theater down the street is a far better actor than some of the people who you see on TV today. But the big name actors and actresses were lucky.
  • In my opinion, real actors/actresses are those who fight for it, who take it on as any other job. Who have it as a dream. Who can give anything to become an actor. If you want to become an actor, you need nothing but spirit in the beginning. When you have got it you know exactly what to do. Anyone can become an actor. I don't think it has anything to do with luck, if you want it enough, you will get it. Actors work about 12 hours a day, no breaks. They don't meet their family and friends for months. They give up almost everything. So, how can it have anything to do with luck? People who are lucky: Do they just sit and watch TV, and then a letter just pops up and says: You got the part? No, you go to acting school, pay money, get your parents permission, get a manager, and go through a rough time. That is how you become an actor.
  • In my opinion, you may need to fight for it. I had to fight for it. My parents hated the fact that I wanted to act. They said that I had to become a doctor or something like that. They were mean about it and said that there were only like 10 people of 100000 who can really become actors and I wouldn't. I did because I fought. The other problem was that I lived in Sweden where there hadn't been auditions in like 5 years or so. I was only 10 years old so I couldn't move to America myself, and my parents refused. But I stil got through it. I went to drama school and did a couple of small school plays. Then when I was 18 years old I moved to America, auditioned, and got a part (in my first audition ever) just because I had trained in Sweden when I was young.
  • In my opinion, good speaking and people skills are required. You could go to university for a acting course (BEST OPTION). Participate in school plays. You have to start somewhere. Join an acting club. If you live in Canada check out Kid Sing (ages 4-18). They might also have it in the US or the UK.
  • In my opinion, the skills needed to become an actor or actor would be outgoing motivation and energy. You need to know what you want and exactly how to get there. You need to be able to project your voice, show emotion through words, confidence, and of course...acting and singing and dancing. However, the average salary for an actor (not a world famous one) in the UK is only roughly about £15.13 per hour and by working 250 days and 8 hours per day then it comes to a grand total of £30,250.
