adrenaline gets released under certain circumstances such as fear or stress, but also physical activity. adrenaline makes the human body ready for action increasing cardiac activity and blood pressure as wel as changing the amount of free 'energy(glucose)' in the blood.

too much adrenaline or for a long period can cause damage to our blood vessel system because of the increased blood pressure. But the most fatal caused by over used cardiac muscles is a cardiac arrest.

Another psychological risk(read: addiction) is the fact that people (or so called adrenaline junkies) do mostly dangerous things to get an adrenaline rush just for enjoyment. they often push it further and further putting themselves in dangerous and sometimes live threathening situations.
