Green Day were known to be a pop punk band before the album American idiot and Linkin Park are nu metal or heavy rock. Bands like KoRn, Slipknot, Papa Roach etc can be good alternatives. Fort Minor, a side project of Mike Shinoda (founder member of LP). Its instruments are greatly influeced with Linkin Park's music and the rapping by Shinoda is great.
