Botrytis cinerea, Mucor piriformis and Rhizophus stolonifer. Botrytis causes a firm dry grey rot (mould), to encompass the entire strawberry. Mucor piriformis and Rhizophus stolonifer cause mold spoilage to late harvest strawberries referred to as the "leak disease" where the rotting strawberry has a wet appearance and ultimately collapses completely exuding juice. Yeasts are normal colonizers of strawberried however dispite the presence of a wide variety of yeast species spoilage by yeasts is rare.
