The American work ethic was influenced by the British Puritians. Our Goverenment was based off of the British common law. Since we speak the same language we get many of our liturature because must of us don't speak a foreign language. Our plays are from them for the same reason. Considerable influence on our colleges. College as a place of intellectual, extra curricular and social influences came from the british. The common language is a direct result of the exchange of teachers, clergymen and scientists. Two nations separated by a common language !
That isn't all. The two nations are very different in not only their language, but in their culture too. The two nations, France and the USA, are different in their education, their everything. Sorry I can't get into details, I myself am actually doing a project on the similarities and differences between the two countries.
