The social expectations of men in America are the very expectations that an American man expects of himself. All cultural expectations are integrated into individuals as they grow and develop within their culture. Some expectations are commonly known, while others are deeply embedded within a person's subconscious thoughts.
Many American men feel as though making money is an important social expectation. Also considered important is masculinity, athleticism, and heterosexuality. Not all men will fit the American social norm. Therefore, it is important to recognize that social expectations are not necessarily good and they do not necessarily value a man's character and self worth. Knowing this allows a person to more constructively evaluate oneself. While it is probably impossible to completely disregard social expectations, knowledge and education can allow a person to consider social expectations relative to their true importance.
American women have expectations in relationships that are a complete mirror of American consumer culture. American women increasingly see relationships and family members as tools to manipulate or replace based upon their whims and aspirations. American women are becoming, generally, shallow and wanton in a way that typically steals energy from anyone that becomes involved with them.
Urbanization changed American society because it changed the quintessential American life from an agricultural, settled life to that of an industrial fueled economy. This urbanization increased the GDP of the US which gave more wealth to the top fifth of American society, which developed into the same kind of quasi royalty by possessed capital that European nations already had. Furthermore, urbanization also changed the dynamic of poverty in the US as the agrarian, pastoral means of settling social issues and solving social mores was for the most part gone and the a number of new social issues from child labor to pollution and the advent of new diseases and Immigration issues. All in all, urbanization had a beneficial effect on American Society because it inevitably led to the current economic prosperity we are well acquainted with today, however it was not good for the bottom 3/5 of the American populace who lived it.

The importance or relevance of the social structures of the Romans can have a two sided answer. On the one hand, its hard to see how the structure of a society that thrived over 2,700 years ago has any importance whatsoever to our lives today, except for possibly passing a history exam. But on the other hand, a study of any society gives us insights into their character and a picture of their faults and their successes. We can emulate their successes and learn from their mistakes. Class or social structure is the core of any society, so by examining and evaluating them, we get insights and possible directions for our own society.
