It has a chain, they should be replaced every 100,000 but I had an 1987 Toyota pickup with 230,000 and never replaced a thing on it and it ran like a dream. if your truck is running bad then replace it if not. then don't waste time

you cannot use that head you will never get the timing in engine right The head of an 85 4x4 is the same as on 86 2wd pickup are the same on 22r or 22re. the only difference is the fuel pump has been capped off for the 22re. You probably got the head from a 4x4 with a different engine.

very easy if you have some mechanical background, ie know what end of a wrench to use. buy a haynes manual on your car/truck...same motor... very detailed and easy to understand. cost about 12 to 20 bucks.
