The lump is called a Back Mouse. Other names for them are: Episacral lipoma, iliac crest pain syndrome, multifidus triangle syndrome, and lumbar fascial fat herniation.

It is estimated that between 10% to 25% of the population has them.

They are not in the muscle, so they are not "knots".

They are like lipomas (fatty lumps) that a lot of people get. But lipomas are never painful when you push on them.

However, back mice can be painful when you push on them.

Most people who have them can live with them. BUT….

In about 10% of the people who have them they can cause excruciating back pain, or refer pain down the leg. And they can mimic a herniated disc.

For those with Back pain, the true test to see if the back mouse is causing your pain is to have it injected with anesthetic. If that makes the pain go away, you have found the culprit. The anesthetic wears off in a couple hours.

If back mice are creating problems, they can be removed surgically.

What they are is fat that has leaked (herniated) through a rip in the facia (membrane) and often take nerves with it. These rips can be caused by trauma, lifting, sitting too much, or other possible causes.

Lumps on both sides of your spine just above your hip bones might be caused by strain of the muscles that support the spine. It's a good idea to check with your doctor to see if this is the case.

What are movable lumps in lower back and not sure if related but an occasional random sharp pain in right buttocks?

It could be back mouse also known as lipoma. I have what feels like several movable lumps just above hip bone. From what I read, don't massage the lumps, as they are lumps of fat full of nerve endings, and will only hurt worse. Massage around them. Also I have fibromyalgia and I think it may be related, so you might want to look into that. Good luck.

Should you be able to feel your excretion being pushed out from your lower back?

This would depend on whether by "lower back" you actually mean anus. If so, then yes. The anal passage is a richly vascularised part of the human anatomy, thus greatly exacerbating any sensation or feeling in this area. If by "lower back" you literally meant the lower part of your back, around the kidney-area, then the answer is a definite no. Should this sensation be accompanied by small lumps under the skin surface, giving it a rough texture, as well as a general sense of discomfort, I suggest you seek immediate medical counsel as this might be down to a colonic malformation whereby your colon does not actually lead to your anal passage but rather your lower back. Other symptoms to look out for include nausea, halitosis and a yellowing of the teeth.
