Mass planting is a monoculture of one specific species. Mass planting is one of the most effective ways to develop 'a look'. In its simplicity a mass planting or monoculture is both a cohesive and timeless in presentation. When teaching garden design I am fond of reminding students that, "Mass planting establishes consistency; consistency develops theme; and theme delivers impact!"
