In these modern times we are all a bit wary of people until we get to know them. It takes time to establish a close bond with a friend and the only way you can do that is to continue seeing them and they will know whether they can trust you. You have to be alert and be sure you can trust them as well. Friends are loyal, honest, there if the person is having a rough time and sometimes just a shoulder to cry on. Listening to the person is sometimes more important than any words you can say to them.
In high school to gain trust, you have to be a nice person never lie and don't be unfair. Trust comes in many ways, don't quit to have people trust you they have to see the changes you have made and decide for themselves whether you are trustworthy or not.
