To provide children, and have small feet so that they can stand in front of the stove.

Of course, this depends entirely on the particular religion you practice, as to the "proper" duties of a daughter. Speaking in general terms, for the mainline Protestant, Roman Catholic, Eastern Orthodox, and other large denomination "established" Christian churches, the particular duties of a son and a daughter aren't really any different. That is, they generally don't define gender roles anymore.

In the more conservative Evangelical Christian churches, they often still proclaim a distinct different in gender roles, that embraces the idea that men and women are inherently different, and should be expected to fulfill different functions and perform different duties. Some of this eminates from the more culturally conservative movements these churches draw from, but also many give considerably weight to Old Testament teaching and a more literal interpretation of New Testament writings than the "mainline" churches, which tend to have a more interpretive view of the Bible.

Judaism follows a similar divide, with the more "modernist" Reform and Conservative Jews shying away from rigid gender roles, while the Orthodox (and related sects) Jews favoring strong gender distinctions.

In practically all Bible-based religions, daughters are expected to respect and follow their parent's teachings, and regard them as valued advisors as to the daughter's problems and duties. How absolute the parent's judgements/advice of their children should be taken depends on the religion in question.
