The Battle of Columbia, TN (November 24-29, 1864) is considered a Confederate victory, one of the last of the war.

The Army of Tennessee under LTGen John Bell Hood moved north from Alabama into Tennessee to oppose the Union's Franklin-Nashville campaign. Unfortunately for Hood, his pursuit of Union forces under Maj.Gen John Schofield did not long distract Maj.Gen Sherman from his March to the Sea, and a month later Hood's forces were decisively defeated by the forces of Schofield and Maj.Gen George H. Thomas in the Battle of Nashville.

As part of Confederate General John Bell Hood's campaign into Tennessee, one of his goals was to at least cause a distraction for Union troops as they had made successful drives deep into Southern territory. For several days in late November of 1864, at Columbia Tennessee, Hoods forces did distract Union troops and at least made it clear that even long held territory by Union troops were subject to a reversal. With that said, historians give a victory fro the Rebels at Columbia, Tennessee. Hood was never able to severely damage the Union's hold on Tennessee. Pro-Confederate raiders, however, were able to damage supply and lines of communication of the Union in Tennessee.
