Attraction to the religion of ruling class coz they ruled the sub continent for a long time.
The social conditions with regards to Caste System attracted a huge population of lower castes to Islam.
Some were also forcebly converted.

For Hinduism in particular, one of the main draws of Islam was the equality between all people. Many Untouchables and Sudras (the lower castes) wanted to leave the caste system that made them permanently lower class and "lesser people".
