Your problem is in your question. With the router hooked up to the computer its using the internet from the router which is probably what your son is using as his Internet source causing him to lag. Just make a schedule. Time him then have your time on your computer then when your done he can get back on his Xbox.
Make sure your computer is hooked into your router via an Ethernet cable. Also, run virus protection scans on your computer.
Not if you have a wireless router that you know the password to.
I have a laptop and it is the only computer in my house and it is set up wireless with a router, the router is hooked into the modem.
I use a hard wired connection for my computer gaming. I find that there can be lagging when you use a wireless network. If you really want a wireless router check best buy
There is no AOSS Button on the PSP, it is something on your router. You have to have a router that supports it. This router is hooked up to your computer and is around a $100.00 but you have to have DSL or something like it to run a phone line though. If you do not have this you can go to a Holiday Inn or Wal-mart parking lot who has this router hooked up already. You can access to the internet there. I know this sounds crazy but try it I did. and it works.
Try closing any other programs you may have running (msn, aim, raptr, yahoo, limewire, etc) If that doesn't work, unplug your router, then plug it back in. If it's still lagging, reboot your computer. If its still running slow, plug a ethernet cable into your computer directly from the router. If it's STILL lagging after that, you need either a better network connection or more RAM in your computer.
I do it through a router. My cord is plugged into the router. The router is plugged into the printer. In theory we could download the stuff to connect the other computer to the printer through the wireless connection but since it is hooked up directly to a different printer, we don't bother.
Get a job and buy a better internet router.

Near the right side of you psp if it is new there should be a small button near the power button that is the aoss button. No, there is no AOSS Button on the PSP. You have to have a router. This will often come up because the Router you are talking about would be a wireless router. The computer is sensing that an ethernet cable is not plugged in from the router to your computer. It is a router.
