network layer
The network layer is the layer that is responsible for routing packets on the network. This is the layer in which Internet protocol operates. In the seven layer OSI model, the network layer is the third layer from the bottom.
Network Layer
Physical, Data link and Network layers make the Network Support layers.
A layered network, or a network layer, is the set up of how data is sent over a network. Each layer has it's own responsibility by either capturing the data or routing it to a computer on the network.

Router works in Network Layer of OSI model
At Layer 3 of the OSI model, hosts are identified using IP addresses, which provide a unique numerical label for each device on a network. An IP address consists of a network portion, which identifies the specific network, and a host portion, which identifies the individual device within that network. This structure allows routers to efficiently route packets of data between different networks and hosts. Additionally, IPv4 and IPv6 are the two primary versions of IP addresses used in networking today.
