An unlawful repo is a theft. Hence it would be handled as such.
But most repo companies have the documentation to show they have the right, whether you feel so or not, to take possession of the vehicle. In fact, in most jurisdicitions they advise the police of it before, or right after, attempting the repo.

Repomen are always on the hunt, and if they see your car at anytime, then they are goign to be quick to try and get it.
