It's so easy to be a vegetarian and stay healthy. Beans, lentils, tofu, peanut butter, nuts etc are all brilliant sources of protein.Most important...be adventurous. There are so many ways to cook exciting vegetarian meals. Get a book or cruise the net for ideas! I am a vegetarian also, and my problem is that I eat too many carbohydrates... The best thing to eat is a lot of vegetables and fruits. In addition, for protein try drinking soy protein shakes; this has really helped me cut down the fat in my body! Instead of counting carbs, eliminate simple and refined carbs from your diet. Exercise too! Eat protein and vegetables and fruit--most overweight people I know are sugar junkies! Eat complex carbs instead. just get out their and exercise!!! Cut out refined carbohydrates! Exercise! "Fast" weight loss is not the best way to go. Changing your long term eating habits is essential to not becoming a "yo-yo".
Oh, yeah--instead of depriving yourself, try to eat 6 to 7 servings of fruit and vegetables (preferably vegetables) every day. Just basically eat healthy things such as beans which are high in protein so they fill you up, which prevents you from snacking, I read that people who eat beans are usually 7lbs lighter than those who don't. Lentils are also good for vegetarians and they are healthy, make them into a soup or something. Things such as Quorn are healthy, not too much of it though, Just eat a balanced diet, have something like Weetabix or porridge for breakfast, beans on brown bread for lunch and maybe some fruit & then pasta or something along those lines for dinner. Try to drink 8 glasses of water a day too, as this is great for flushing any toxins out of the body and can help promote healthy skin & help you feel in a good mood and hydrated. Try to get your 5 a day. Lentils are vegetables, and so are beans. You need to make sure that you are eating al ot of vegetables; don't overdo it though; have a fair amount as vegetarians need this as they can lack in vitamins and minerals.
