You must have the key inserted and in the "on" position to move the gearshift. Check this first!!! Might be a bad clutch cable as well.
need more info.. is it a manual 4WD that you have to pull the lever on the transmission hump to engage the 4wd or is it push button 4WD?
If the problem is the button not fully depressing, you'll need to clean the coke/coffee out of the shift button. Use a compressed gas cleaner that is upholstery safe. If that doesn't work or if the problem is not with the shift button, you'll just need to depress the shift button REALLY hard.
it happened to me too. look under your owners manual it tells you how to move it out of park. its an electrical problem There us a known issue with a plastic lever in the shifter assembly breaking, Chrysler does sell it separately
There is a lock release button on the gearshift, hold it when changing gears
Look in the owners manual. There is a button close to gear shift that you can press in a sequence to get unstuck.
its beside the shifter under the console. if your car is stuck in park, take off the console, and pull the shift solenoid out or engage it and then zip tie it to a bracket that doesn't move. and it will work from now on.
Put it in neutral if it wont shift at all something is broke internally. It does not have a reset button and no proceedure to be reset...sorry
Possibly kickdown button located under the 'gas' pedal is stuck in the down position.
If your year/model truck has the push buttons on the dash to engage the 4x4 check to see if the 4x4 button is stuck in. Bump the dash panel with your hand or try to gently pry it out if it is stuck.
== == The option list on a 1987 Corvette is on a label stuck to the underside of the console cover.
