What can you do if your 2000 Pontiac sometimes shuts off and won't start again and no mechanic can find the problem they replace wires and it still cuts off?

I had a similar problem with my 2000 Grand Prix and it turned out to be the main component of the electronic ignition system. I had the ignition system, the coils and the wires replaced for about $700 and its been fine ever since.
AnswerRecently had this problem with my 2001 Grand Am. Ran across an article on the net that said that Grand Ams come with a bug in the remote keyless entry system that sometimes prevents the car from starting properly. The only known fix is to reset the computer by turning the key to the on position for 10 minutes. Turning it off and then trying to start it. worked for meps - the article did mention that by resetting the computer this way over and over it will ruin the computer
