my 90 f150 does that ,check the alinment of the switch ,the key goes in but wont turn take the key out and look in the hole to line it up Try turning the steering wheel left or right while trying to turn the key.At times the wheels may not be at straight position and the weight of the vehicle on the suspension system will tend to move the steering linkage toward the straight ahead position, binding the steering lock slots in the column against the locking pin from the key cylinder. Usually gets freed up this way.Turned steering is a practice when parked on hills by many drivers. Unless parking space is a problem, turn the steering to straight positon before locking. No lock? rock steering wheel slightly in either direction until lock. Still no unlock? Check key as answer before. Still problem? Either key cylinder or linkage in column problem particularly in tilt models.
try rocking (turning) the steering wheel while you turn the key. most likely it's just a bit of extra tension caused by the wheels being turned when the vehicle was last used.
