Some breeds have more hair or thicker undercoats and will shed in higher quantities, but virtually all dogs (and cats) will shed hair. While you cannot stop a dog from shedding, you can help reduce the amount of loose hair, and also effectively remove the hair so it doesn't create a problem in your home.
The single best thing to get control over the amount of hair your dog sheds, is to brush your dog! Regular, even daily, brushing is the best thing you can do to keep your home free of hair. Brushing will also make your dog's coat softer, cleaner, and less likely to shed.
A dog's coat is often a reflection of what they eat. Feed a high quality food with good digestible protein sources. Ideally, a named source of meat (Chicken, Beef, Lamb, etc.) should be the first ingredient listed on the dog food package.
Give your dog a daily Omega 3&6 fatty acid supplement. Giving an Omega fatty acid supplement to your dog keeps his coat healthy and prevents broken or damaged hair which can lead to increased shedding.
Vacuum often. Be diligent in your vacuuming efforts. Frequent vacuuming is the best way to keep your home hair free.
If you think your dog is shedding excessively, it should be examined by a vet. It may have a thyroid disorder.
Yes, unfortunately, but almost all dogs do. They shed in the Spring and Summer(Not as bad in the summer, but terrible in the Spring) but not in the fall or winter. Hope I helped!LabradingerLover14
Get a Labradoodle, they do not shed are cute, and i am pretty sure are smaller then a lab. But to make sure get a mini labradoodle. Mini poodle and lab thanks
Yes, all dogs shed. How much the breed typically sheds, how long the hair is, how often they shed (some do seasonally) and whether they have an undercoat or not will make the hair more or less visible and more or less of a problem. For some lists of dogs that shed less, see the related questions below.
Lab are shedding dogs, they are going to shed a lot. To prevent this, brush them daily. Or get one of those hair vacuums and vacuum the hair off.
The only kind of lab that I think of that MIGHT not shed is a Labradoodle. This is a mix between a Labrador and a poodle. Poodle are hypoallergenic because they have hari instead of fur, so if a labradoodle has the poodle coat it might be hypoallergenic, but it would still shed.
A golden retriever lab would shed more than a Border Collie Lab mix. Both are very good dogs, but I think that a Golden Retriever Lab mix's are more the family type and very loyal.
black lab
Labradors shed constantly, but there is no difference between how much a yellow, chocolate, or a black lab sheds.
Not at all! Try a poodle If you are allergic to dog hair and pet dander you should not a lab. they shed A LOT!!!
The Norwich Terrier does shed, but not as much as other dog breeds. It is a very light shedder. Grooming, bathing, and brushing a dog can make them shed less. These dogs have shaggy, medium length, waterproof coats.
Different dog foods can make them shed less
