No. Boric Acid and Borax are different things. You can derive Boric Acid from Borax though.
Borax is used as a natural laundry booster, multipurpose cleaner, fungicide, preservative, insecticide, herbicide, disinfectant, desiccant, and ingredient in making "slime". Borax crystals are odorless, whitish (can have various color impurities), and alkaline. Borax is not flammable and is not reactive. It can be mixed with most other cleaning agents, including chlorine bleach.
Borax kills ants.

Yes, reportedly commercial borate wood preservatives are a mixture of borax and boric acid in proportion 1,54:1.

Borax will kill fruit flies. Place some yogurt in the room with borax in it and it will kill off the flies.
No. But they both serve as leavening agents. Baking powder has baking soda in it
In a starch-type glue (e.g. a wheatpaste glue / wallpaper glue), the borax acts as a gelling agent, thereby increasing the viscosity and glue strength. Borax also has fungicidal properties, thereby acting as a preservative against mould.
Vinegar would be the best preservative. You can also use a little bit of salt or even lemon as preservative. Sugar syrup can also be used as a preservative if you want your sauce to be sweet.

Hi, I am looking for Borax in Costa Rica, too. Does anyone know a place I can get it? Blessings, Johnny
Not recommended. For what purpose would you intend to use the Borax? This is not a regularly used product for pools in most areas of the country.
