It depends on what your making, but you could usually use Chocolate Chips or chunked chocolate.
Whether chocolate chips can be used in place of a chocolate bar depends entirely on the recipe. If the chocolate bar is broken or chopped up, and the chips are the same type of chocolate - milk, semi-sweet or bittersweet - then the chips probably would be a good substitute.

It was a mistake. She tried to make chocolate dough by adding chopped up semi-sweet chocolate bar to a recipe that called for Baker's chocolate. She did not have Baker's chocolate and instead she got a vanilla based cookie with melted chunks of chocolate throughout. She served them to her guests anyway and they were a huge hit.

You can use melted chocolate instead, there are many website which contain recipes for chocolate treats using melted chocolate instead of cocoa powder. It also tastes nicer too! :) hope it helps x
