If it's a dessert you could use a touch of cinnamon if the recipe doesn't call for it already. If it's a savory dish, it would be hard to gut that same nutty flavor from something else so just omit it altogether. It gives a pretty unique taste so unless you despise it, definately try it!
Probably ground cinnamon would be the closest substitute, in most instances. However nutmeg is sometimes used in the classic Bechemel / white sauce for savory dishes, and I'm not convinced cinnamon would be a good alternative for this purpose; the flavor is too sweet.
Allspice or cinnamon might work ok, but nutmeg has it's own unique flavor.
nutmeg or allspice.

You could use yeast instead of baking powder.
Make a mix of baking soda and sprinkle some nutmeg in it, then stir it together. Wet your toothbrush and dip it in your dry mix. Your breathe will be minty fresh and your teeth clean!
nothing really
you can use cornstarch
if the recipie says to use baking powder you should use that as that is how it is sopose to be used but you may try and use baking soda if you don't have baking powder
Yes. However, if you use baking soda instead of powder, you'll need to include some acid. A teaspoon of lemon juice or using buttermilk instead of regular milk will work.
