== == Here is advice: * Mother's metal polish it remooves oxidation and water marks. However it takes a long time and a lot of scrubbing with mothers. * The best way to clean your headlight lens is to use a kit designed just for that purpose. There are a number of them on the market, most require a drill or a buffer and quite a bit of skill so you don't burn the lens. * I have always used a clean 4 inch buffing pad, from the hardware store that fits on my electric drill. (not the Battery powered type, they do not spin fast enough) The buffs are firm where they are sewn in the middle, and loose near the edge, which makes them soft. I buy Two. Also buy the COMPOUND stick that is for Plastic buffing. You spin the buff in the drill and hold the compound to the 1st Buff. This compound is what cuts gently into the plastic lens and removes the yellow, crazed, foggy crude on top. Do not use a lot of pressure, run the buff gently over the lens . Stop and wipe it off with a clean soft cotton cloth. Pick another dull area to go over, working smoothly, and gently, around the face of the lens. You will get 90% of it off, just work carefully, and don't smack the surrounding chrome, or painted trim areas of the light. They may not look good polished deep...like the lens. The 2nd Buff, is for the final shine, no compound, just run it gently. Call it good when the lens has cleared up, and most of the yellow, crazing, fog is not , or barely noticeable. There is no bottled polish,or kit to remove the very badly yellowed, or faded color from a lens. You can only buff it out. There again, only to a point. This is the cheapest, and the best methold I know of. The results are always much better than when you started. It beats the price of new lenses. You can ...make money doing it...Your friends will be amazed...and whoever you do it for...will see better in the dark. Which is why I do it for free. * Use any plastic polish. Works great to buff out scratches or cloudiness. * You can also use FINE polishing compound. Then protect them with a good quality wax. * A pure liquid non abrasive acrylic lens deoxidizer will clean the yellow off head and tail lights on contact. no rubbing buffing or excessive polishing. No tools or skill needed Takes about 60 seconds per lens. == ==
