There function is not to be undetectable on radar at all. They are certainly capable of flying with the ability to be hard to detect on radar, but the main function is to be a long range, heavy duty bomber.
There unique ability to fly from Missouri to the Persian Gulf to do precession bombing while avoiding radar is unparalleled in the world. This allows pilots to go on bombing runs in foreign countries and still being able to have supper at home in the states.
Seeing one of these planes in the air is even interesting. The mind seems to not be willing to acknowledge that this is in the air. There is also absolutely no noise until after the plane has passed by you.
The planes claimed capabilities include:

Unlimited range with in air refueling
Dropping of 80 500 lb bombs
or 16 2,400 lb bombs
a variety of air to surface weapons to neutralize problems on the ground
