It is a over head valve engine with a timing chain.
The timing chain is located under the valve cover on the passenger side of the motor.
Sounds like the timing chain adjuster is worn out. It is actuated by oil pressure. Was it replaced with the timing chain?
You don't have a timing belt, you have a timing chain..(that's for the other foreign automaker...that charge way to much at the lot..but are way too cheap to give you what you pay for.) you timing chain is located under you valve cover gasket, you would have to remove it in order to get at the chain.
how to set the valve timming on a nissan 1400
Its has a timing belt (2.0l 16 valve dual cam ) and a timing chain in rear of camshaft.
Valve timing is not adjustable on a stock engine. The timing chain is either installer correctly or not.
If a 1999 Dodge Intrepid timing chain goes out a valve in the head can easily be damaged.
could you display a diagram of a timing chain for vw polo 1.2 12 valve
YES IT CAN BEND A VALVE WHEN THE TIMING CHAIN BROKE VALVE TRAIN NOT MOVING AND THE CRANK IS STILL MOVING CAUSING PISTON TO COME IN CONTACK WITH THE VALVE THAT WAS OPEN
I'm looking for the same answer myself for my 1997 Altima I swore I have been told that it is a chain. But I'm looking for a definite answer. Try this website for more info on the chain or belt http://www.nisspartswholesale.com/200-SXS-001_1996_parts.htmlTo answer both of your questions Nissan Altima 1993 and up have timing chains and if you have looked for them you're not going to find it unless you take the valve cover off and you will see it on the left side but be thankful for one thing that Nissan guarantees that the timing chain will last the life of the engine which is about 250,000 miles.Update:Just a confirmation, all the Nissan Altimas with either 4 cylinder or V6 engines had timing chains, not belts. This applies to the KA24DE, VQ35DE, and QR25DE engines. : If the Engine has plastic covers where the serpentine belt is running it's usually a Timing Belt. If it is a metal cover you have a Timing Chain
