Bottom of pan if there is one. Not all cars have. For those that don't, you have to drop pan.

the older cars u can unhook the battery for 15 minutes but with the new computers in the cars today u have to unhook them for 30 to 45 minutes then it will reset the computer
I'm no expert on this matter, but I heard that the transmission does not get properly lubricated in many cars when being towed for any distance. This may cause the bearings to wear out. Be sure to ask that question if you seek further advice. I know the GM suburban has a way of disconnecting the transmission when being towed, so it is a concern.
