because Neville chamberlain sent a message to Hitler by radio telling him if he didn't get out of Poland by 11 am on September 1st we would declare war he did not get out of Poland so we did declare war.

England had made an appeasement with Germany saying that Germany will not conquer any more land, and if they do France and England will declare war on them leading to ww2. Germany said they would not then not to long later invaded Poland.
