An intermittent problem is not only very difficult to track down, but it is also very frustrating for both the owner and mechanic both. Would this car still be under warranty? If not, it may still be a good idea to take it over to your dealer as in this case, he/she would be the most knowledgeable about this problem, and if there were any recall/service issues involving the operation/drivabilty of your car.
