Perhaps you need to try a higher octane fuel i.e. 89
what causes my corola dx wagon with a 5e engine to ping
Pre-ignition.
Try 87 Octane if it does not "ping" excessively you should be OK If it does "ping" go to an 89 Octane
The cast of Idol - 1993 includes: Yuk Ping Yip Hiu Ying Chan
cheap gas or your timing is out of wack put hi test gas in first to see if that takes the ping a way
If it is advanced to far, It will be hard to start when engine is hot and when it is running it will ping and rattle and could even burn a piston. The timing on that year should be set at ZERO at top dead center.
retard the timing a bit better gas.. tune up
The cast of Task Force Habagat - 1993 includes: Edu Manzano as Ping Lacson
Ping is caused by the timing being too far advanced either becasue it is set to far advanced or the advance system is malfunctioning. Prior to 1996 you can adjust the timing manually but after '96 the computer does it all.
Low octane fuel, timing to far advanced, overheating.
Try 87 octane - if it does not "ping" excessively if it does then go to 89
Try 87 octane as long as it does not "ping" excessively you should be OK
