Don't know exactly what makes a head gasket blow, but a simple quick test. with engine hot remove dipstick and drop a bit of oil on hot manifold or other hot part of engine, oil will smoke and water will sizzle. Signs of water/antifreeze in oil is an indication that head gasket is leaking
