could also be lose wire on the ignition coil. i had this intermittantly for six months be solving, also, try moving gear lever into D, then back to park. occasionly the car can register being in gear and wont attempt to start

Has anyone had a 2001 Saturn with an intermittent starting problem though it usually starts up fine after waiting 15 minutes. Any ideas?
My 2000 Saturn does this sometimes and it has to do with the security system. If you hit the lock button with the trunk or a door open, the security system shuts the car down and it won't start for a few minutes. You can either wait or you can pull out the fuse and put it back in. It happened to me twice and now I'm just really careful. Not sure if this is your issue, but .

Check out your fuel filter it sounds as if it is clogged and after sitting for a few minutes the debris falls away and lets it start and run until it becomes clogged again.
