Maybe the heater core is leaking.
Check your cabin air filter.
The rotten smell comes from the cabin air filter. i have the same smell and it is on my list to get my 2000 v-6 sonata back up to par.
if you smell coolant and your windows are fogged possibly it could be the heater core.
Might be a leaky heater core, the anti freeze in the coolant has a sweet smell/taste.
Bravada smell coolant. That's how they greet each other.
im not sure its gas you smell. it could be but there is an extremely small chance of it being gas. fuel would have to be leaking into the air duct system some how and the two are not in any way connected. the air going into the cabin is completely separate from the air going into the engine. most likely its coolant. the heater core uses hot coolant from the engine to create heat if its leaking you'll smell it. other than a rotten smell from the ac that's about the only smell that would be in that system from the car itself. and that's caused by a dirty evaporator.-mechanic for 7+ years
The head gasket sits between the head and the engine block if it is leaking out where you can see the coolant, yes you can smell the coolant if it is leaking into the engine no you cannot smell the coolant. You can check the oil to see if it has coolant in the oil if it does then the head gasket might be blown.
thermostst is stuck
Could be bacteria build-upIf your vehicle has air conditioning the smell could be caused by build up of bacteria on the heater matrix and in the vents, as this bacteria decays it causes a smell inside the cabin, this can be resolved by purchasing air specialist air con cleaner the is sprayed into the air vents. The smell can also be caused by the heating of leaking coolant from the heater matrix, this would also combined with the car steaming up. Check the coolant level to see if it has dropped.
No, it will not. If you have gas smell in cabin it means that the gas line is leaky. And you better find that leak.
Maybe a head gasket leak they're hard to see and can cause coolant leakge and you might smell the coolant in the car
If your going through coolant then you have an internal head gasket leak you smell coolant because its getting into cylinder and burning
