your vacuum line is either cracked or off. The vacuum line is located by the back of the driverside firewall. It is aprox. 1/4 inch hose. Reconnect if off or replace the hose.
If the rpm's are erratic it could be the throttle position sensor. It is a cheap and easy repair.
I had a similar problem and it turned out to be a loose hose connection to the PVC valve.
Speedometer either doesnt work, is erratic or works when it wants to. This may also cause erratic shifting in the transmission or transmission to stay in 2nd gear when in drive.
If the intake manifold gasket has failed then it can cause many issues. Air leaks, known as vacuum leaks, will cause an erratic idle, stalling, and fuel problems.

I am currently going thru the same thing. It is either the throttle plate or the recall that during engine movement causes the throttle-cable housing to pull out of its guide.
Check for a vacuum leak
