Squinting is a result of your eyes trying their best to read something or see something that is not registering as its common shape.

For example when you see a cat it usually has a tail and pointy ears and 4 legs, defining features. WHen your eyes cant define the features, or your brain doesnt recognize the visual input, you squint. Its a way of your eyes and brain working together to determine what you are looking at and if you need a clearer look or closer look at it.

Squinting is your brains way of saying "Hey you sure that's what you see"

ANSWER:Squinting is the inability to see something close up or far off. It just means that you are using a natural ability to focus on an object. Go to an eye doctor. You, like me, need glasses to inprove your vision.

Is squinting bad?

Squinting does not harm your eyesight. Rather, when someone has slightly weakened eyesight, objects will appear slightly out-of-focus. Squinting is a natural response to try to clear vision. Essentially, squinting narrows your field of vision by reducing the area you are looking at, allowing your eyes to focus more clearly on what is still in your vision. People often think squinting causes bad eyesight, because initial vision damage is very weak, almost unnoticeable, but the body automatically tries to correct it by squinting. By the time damaged has increased to a point where it's noticeable, it may seem to squinting caused the damage, rather than the other way around.
