FYI, I had a mechanice replace the O2 sensor and the check engine light came back on again. I then changed the air filter and took out the Mass Air Flow sensor and cleaned it with electrical parts cleaner and put it back in. I also added a fuel injector cleaner to a full tank of gas. I reset the light by removing the negative cable to the battery for 30 seconds. This worked well enough for the car to pass a NYS inspection.

I had a similar problem with my 2000 Chevy Prizm. It would die intermittently, even when moving. The problem was that the onboard computer (ECM?) has a ground wire attached to the engine. When this wire would come loose the onboard computer would shut the engine off. A mechanic refastened the ground wire to the engine and car has been fine ever since. BTW, I suspect that the previous owner of my Prizm was doing some electrical work and did not reattach the above ground wire properly.

I have a 99 Chevy prizm. The throttle body is located on the driver side of the car in the engine. Following the air filter housing (the black tube) you will it connected to the engine. It will have a clamp on it. You need a screwdriver to loosen the clamp. It might be a bit hard to remove.
