What size Motor?
restabbing distributor and setting time I'm replacing 4 cylinder motor in a 87 Chevy s10 how do I install distributor and get the truck in time
AnswerI believe it is on the back of the engine. back by the distributor cap and such.Looking at the motor from the front, it is behind carb and to the right of the distributor. It has 3 wires on it.
Number one is the front of the engine, drivers side. But you need to time the motor from no. 8.
Defective Blower Motor Resistor Pack.
The 3A has a mechanical distributor (points) and the 3AC has an "electronic" distributor.
It can also be a blown fuse, or a defective blower motor resistor pack.
remove the distributor cap. turn the motor by hand and watch the rotor on the distributor. once it moves turn the motor the other way. if rotor on distributor doesnt move amost imidiately after you start tuning motor by hand the chain has some stretch in it and most likely should be replaced. the motor will run noticably better with a good tight chain. if its a factory chain with nylon gears it is junk anyways. replace it with a quality metal geared set.
Most likely the gearbox mounts are failing and need replacing. This can cause this problem even when the engine mounts are fine.
No distributor , Coil On Plug ( C.O.P. ) ignition system
No, that engine does not have a distributor.
Typically age/wear. If you replace one, you should consider replacing all of them as they are weakened by the bad one.
By replacing the motor with another circular motor.
Check fuse if ok Check to see if getting power to fan motor - if ok motor needs replacing - if not may be switch or relay
You need to turn the motor so the first piston is at top of the cylinder to remove the distributor.
on the top of the motor, behind the very back of the intake, next to the distributoron the top of the motor, behind the very back of the intake, next to the distributor
The distributor cap is located where the spark plugs cables are connected .They go from the motor to the distributor cap.
At the base of the distributor, there is a tab, with a bolt in it. Tightening or loosening this bolt, will do the same, with the distributor. The distributor, by the way, times the motor, so, you will need to retime it.
when replacing motor what position does the window need to be in?
inside the distributor.
Inside the distributor.Inside the distributor.
If it has points in the distributor then it is 0.035 If it has an HEI distributor then it is 0.045
