Normally caused by failed oil pressure sensor. It is located on the back of the block.
No, the check engine light does not come on because your gas is half way full. The check engine light will come on if there is a problem with the engine.
Check the water seperator filter. It may be full.
If the engine oil level is at the full mark, the light is not suppose to come on when driving.

The gas tank operates on a vacuum principal and if it's not optimal, then there is a sensor that will activate the check engine light.
A defective thermostat can cause the engine to overheat. It can also cause the engine to not reach full operating temperature if the thermostat is stuck open. It is possible this could set the check engine light.

Put enough in to reach the full mark on the dipstick. If the oil light is on you either have a leak or the engine is burning oil.

you need to replace the egr valve it is located on top of the motor on the left side you need to replace the egr valve it is located on top of the motor on the left side. Most of the time it is the vacuum lines that come off the EGR valve that makes the check engine light come on. I changed my EGR valve and the engine light is still on with a code that said low vacuum check out full size bronco.com they can answer any question you have
