The Rx-7 Would Win In A Quarter Mile Drag. But The Vr4 Wins On The Dyno- Top Speed Also The Drivers Ability
you should be able to, it would be expensive, maybe more expensive then just buying a vr4. To do it you would need the new engine, the turbo wiring harness, and ecu for sure. The transmission of the VR4 (aka turbo 3000) is an all wheel drive transmission, and the N/A 3000's are FWD. To have the car AWD you need to sap the whole drive train from a VR4, other then that your car will just be FWD.
yes, the dohc sl will fit. sohc 3000gt uses a distributer
look in the owners manual or right under the hood it should tell you
there is no such thing as a turbo 3000gt sl model. there are custom 3000gt's where people do an engine swap and if your talking about one of those, it would prob be between the book value of a vr4 and a regular base sl. check kbb considering that it changes every year Providing that you purchased your GT SL brand new. Once you add all the things necessary to turn your vehicle into a VR4 you will have spent more money on the cost of your vehicle plus the cost of the conversion than the total cost of the VR4 when it was brand new. If you look on line these vehicles are going anywhere 5 to 12k in todays market.
Yes however it requires much more than just the turbo to be swapped. here is a pretty complete list. Compliments of 3si.org Parts list: -Turbos from a VR4, either the TD04 9b's or TD04 13G's with wastegate actuators -Both intercooler and all piping associated -Exhuast manifolds and the manifold gaskets from a VR4 -o2 housings and precats from a VR4 -Oil housing from a VR4 -Oil feed and return lines for the turbos, and all the eyebolts and gaskets -"Joint" on the back of the engine block for the rear oil feed line -Modified non-turbo oil pan to accept oil return lines -Water housing from a VR4 -Water feed and return lines for the turbos and all the eyebolts, washers, and gaskets -VR4 downpipe -360cc injectors -VR4 fuel pump (or walbro 255ltr/hr) -Injector resistor pack -Front motor mount bracket -Oil cooler with lines electronics needed: -S-AFC or S-AFR -Boost gauge -Air/Fuel ratio gauge -Exhuast Gas Temperature gauge (two is best, one for front bank and one for rear bank)
around 45hp cause i own *edited by morri908* ....... You must have miss typed that... It depends on the style, like Base, SL, or VR4. Base and SL have about 222 HP, while the Twin Turbo VR4 has somewhere around 300..
6G72. Note it as a TT or twin turbo, because there is also a N/A model.
you can turbo any of the NA 3000gt's with the right knowledge and some money. you need a conversion kit from a VR4 model 3000gt which includes everything you need to go turbo... oil lines, intakes, turbos and mounts...etc. consider upgrading the brakes as well b/c if you have the ability to go faster...you NEED to be able to stop faster. www.3si.org
Bad struts can cause vibrations while coasting in first gear on a 1993 Mitsubishi 3000 GT VR4. A bad tire can also cause this.
absolutely, if you first convert the engine to run a turbo, and that would include replacing your 4spd automatic with a manual gearbox, considering the automatic transmission that come with the sl & base models could barely handle the v6 engine alone. I would assume adding another 10lbs of boost would probably burn it up pretty quick. personally i would recommend selling your sl for a vr4 model, considering the price for the conversion would probably be more expensive than just selling the sl and buying a vr-4, but hey it's your money, not mine. Above is 100% correct just to push the point further here is a list of parts needed to swap: -Turbos from a VR4, either the TD04 9b's or TD04 13G's with wastegate actuators -Both intercooler and all piping associated -Exhuast manifolds and the manifold gaskets from a VR4 -o2 housings and precats from a VR4 -Oil housing from a VR4 -Oil feed and return lines for the turbos, and all the eyebolts and gaskets -"Joint" on the back of the engine block for the rear oil feed line -Modified non-turbo oil pan to accept oil return lines -Water housing from a VR4 -Water feed and return lines for the turbos and all the eyebolts, washers, and gaskets -VR4 downpipe -360cc injectors -VR4 fuel pump (or walbro 255ltr/hr) -Injector resistor pack -Front motor mount bracket -Oil cooler with lines electronics needed: -S-AFC or S-AFR -Boost gauge -Air/Fuel ratio gauge -Exhuast Gas Temperature gauge (two is best, one for front bank and one for rear bank)
inside timing cover.you must r&r engine to replace however.
