Jefferson protected the expansion of slavery but advocated eliminating the importation of slaves. Jefferson advocated increasing the size of the United States and pushed through the Louisiana Purchase. He favored exploration and chose Captain Lewis to lead the famous expedition across the continent. He favored reducing the power of churches in governing.
Jefferson advocated a strong navy to protect American trade overseas. When Barbary (Arabic North Africa) pirates took American ships hostage, Jefferson sent the marines. He refused to pay tribute to the pirate leaders.
Yes, Thomas Jefferson wanted to be president. In 1796 he ran against John Adams and lost but was elected vice president. In the 1800 election, Jefferson ran again and defeated Adams. In this election, he was in a tie vote with Aaron Burr and Jefferson did everything possible to try to win over Burr. Jefferson ran for a second term in 1804 and won.
He commissioned Lewis and Clark to explore it and make a report on what they found there.
What reason might the federalists have for Opposing President Thomas Jefferson's plan
That is not within the President's power.
In the election of 1800-1801, the electoral college had mostly Republicans and each of them had two votes. Each of them cast one vote for Jefferson and one vote for Aaron Burr. The only problem was that Burr and Jefferson came up in a tie. Burr refused to back down (probably from a desire to be president himself instead of vice president.) Finally, the allowed the House of Representatives to vote and Hamilton used his influence to make them vote for Jefferson as he was less disliked than Burr. The problem was resolved by having separate elections for vice president and president.
He became the 3rd President of the United States, was an ambassador to France, wrote books, and stayed active in helping make policy.
Jefferson didn't "make" land. He bought the Louisiana Purchase from France.

the louisiana purchase,
Yes. After John Adams's first term, the next election, between Aaron Burr, John Adams, and Thomas Jefferson, there was a tie between Thomas Jefferson and Aaron Burr. Because of this, John Adams became very bitter, because he believed he should have won. The tie between Thomas Jefferson and Aaron Burr was finally broken and Thomas Jefferson won, and Aaron Burr became vice president. Because of this election, Congress passed a new amendment, that the president and the vice president would run seperately.
The Louisiana Purchase was made in 1803 during Jefferson's presidency.
Not enough. He died a debtor.
the Constitution never said that the president has authority to make land purchases
became president
Thomas Jefferson was faced with the conflict of the Barbary Pirates, the supream court case of Marbury vs Madison, and the Louisiana Purchase happened during his presidency.
President Jefferson believed that of it wasn't already in the Constitution then that power belonged to the states instead of the Federal Government. The ability to make the purchase wasn't in the Constitution but the deal needed to be completed quickly.
